About the Role
Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh is seeking a strategic and collaborative Audience Acquisition Manager to join our Advancement and Revenue team. This role is ideal for an audience development professional who enjoys combining creative marketing, community engagement, relationship building, and data-driven insights to reach new audiences and strengthen long-term patron relationships.

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Audience Acquisition Manager develops and executes strategies to attract, engage, and convert new single-ticket buyers and subscribers while expanding and diversifying Confluence Theater’s audience base. This position leads targeted outreach to accessibility-focused and production-specific audiences and supports growth in group sales and education audiences.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days onsite in Pittsburgh. 


Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute audience acquisition and subscriber renewal campaigns across digital, print, and community channels to grow new single-ticket and subscriber audiences while strengthening retention and renewal.
  • Supervise and support the Education Marketing & Group Sales Specialist in growing group sales and school and education audiences, providing direct support with education marketing and outreach efforts as needed.
  • Develop audience engagement and loyalty strategies that move patrons from first-time buyers to repeat attendees, subscribers, volunteers, and donors, partnering with Development to deepen engagement and increase long-term audience value.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and affinity groups to expand reach among new and underrepresented audiences.
  • Develop targeted outreach and partnership strategies to engage audiences who utilize accessibility services and expand participation among accessibility-focused audience segments.
  • Analyze audience data, market research, audience interests, and production-specific insights in partnership with the Business Intelligence Manager to identify growth opportunities and inform acquisition, targeting, and renewal strategies.
  • Develop and manage audience acquisition and renewal promotions, discount offers, and referral programs, evaluating performance and adjusting strategies to strengthen buyer conversion and subscriber retention.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Director and box office/ticketing operations on group sales discount codes and community, charitable, and sponsor-related ticketing programs.
  • Lead the planning and execution of marketing and audience engagement events, including logistics, vendors, promotion, guest and RSVP management, community partner participation, and coordination of Marketing team responsibilities.
  • Represent Confluence Theater at community events, fairs, and other outreach opportunities to increase brand awareness, cultivate community relationships, and generate prospective audience leads.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Manager to align audience acquisition, renewal, and loyalty initiatives with digital advertising and email strategies.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key audience growth and retention metrics, including acquisition, conversion, renewal, and retention among new and returning audiences.
  • Assist with audience surveys, focus groups, and other feedback initiatives to gather insights into the patron experience.
  • Support merchandise and on-site sales initiatives in partnership with Patron Services and Box Office, maintain current production and event listings across relevant community calendars, and provide backup support for Marketing functions as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Arts Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in audience development, marketing, community engagement, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory or team leadership experience in marketing, audience development, or a related environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing relationships and partnerships with community organizations and diverse audience groups.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Development or fundraising teams to align audience engagement initiatives with broader organizational goals.
  • Experience with Tessitura, Prospect2, or comparable CRM/ticketing and email marketing platforms preferred.
